Image
By: Labaran Ahmed  Worshippers at the Jos Central Mosque gathered on Friday for a spiritually uplifting sermon delivered by the Chief Imam, Sheikh Muhammad Gazali Adam, and translated by Ustaz Muhammad Bashir Lawan Adam. The sermon focused on the signs of true prosperity in Islam, emphasizing the importance of righteous living, good character, and sincere devotion to Allah. In his sermon, the Chief Imam outlined seven key indicators of a prosperous believer, including steadfastness in worship, adherence to the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), maintaining honorable relationships, and being a source of benefit to others.  “When Allah intends good for a servant, He opens the doors of righteousness and protects him from sin,” the Imam stated, referencing Surah in Quran “Whoever follows My guidance will never go astray, nor will they be distressed.” He urged Muslims to strive towards these qualities in their daily lives, noting...

UBANDOMA JOSHUA LAVEN: THE PEOPLE’S GENERAL IN GOVERNOR MUFTWANG’S ARMY OF TRANSFORMATION

Image
When the story of Plateau’s political struggle is told, Hon. Ubandoma Joshua Laven’s name will shine like a star in the night sky. At a time when the APC machinery held Plateau hostage, and the voice of the PDP was nearly silenced, Ubandoma stood as the only PDP local government chairman on the Plateau. He was outnumbered, attacked, and betrayed — but he never fell. Why? Because his strength was not in government resources, but in the undying loyalty of the people. The ruling powers wanted him crushed, but the people said NO! They rose and declared: “Ubandoma is our trust, Ubandoma is our freedom!” That defiance kept PDP alive on the Plateau, and today the reward is clear: the man who carried the party’s torch in the darkest hour is now the Commissioner of Works, delivering light, roads, and development to every corner of the state. Hon. Ubandoma Joshua Laven has distinguished himself as one of the engines of Governor Caleb Muftwang’s government. His record spea...

Rebuilding Bassa: The Developmental Strides Under Governor Mutfwang and Dr. Joshua Riti

Bassa Local Government Area, one of Plateau State’s most diverse and agriculturally endowed regions, is today experiencing a quiet but profound transformation. Long associated with insecurity and neglect, the LGA is now emerging as a story of resilience and renewal, driven by the vision of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and the committed leadership of its Executive Chairman, Hon. Dr. Joshua Sunday Riti. At the center of this transformation is Dr. Riti’s “Rebuild Bassa Now” project, a homegrown initiative that has quickly become a symbol of hope and collective progress. Anchored on the governor’s reformist agenda, it has provided Bassa with a clear direction — rebuilding infrastructure, restoring peace, and reviving the local economy. One of the most visible achievements is the modern administrative complex, now nearing completion. JOS EAST: THE RISING STAR UNDER GOV. MUTFWANG

Image
When the story of Plateau’s rebirth is written, one Local Government will stand tall as the shining example of loyalty, vision, and results — Jos East, under the leadership of Hon. Markus Usaini Nyam. From the moment he assumed office, Chairman Nyam made it clear: Jos East would not be left behind in Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang’s "The Time is Now" transformation agenda. Today, his bold and compassionate leadership has propelled the council into the spotlight as one of Plateau’s fastest-rising LGAs. Once plagued by economic neglect, Jos East has undergone a remarkable turnaround. In under 100 days, Chairman Nyam delivered two modern markets at Mai-Juju and Anquari — now thriving centers of trade where farmers and traders engage in booming weekly commerce. These markets are not only revitalizing local business but significantly boosting the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the council, making Jos East more financially independent an...

Nigeria at 65: The Struggle Between Hope and Dysfunction

Image
From the Global News Desk, based on interviews and reflections on national issues On October 1st, 1960, Nigeria hoisted its green-white-green flag to the skies, full of hope. The country’s founding dream was one of unity, prosperity, and greatness. Sixty-five years later, that dream is both alive and endangered. Nigeria stands at a pivotal crossroads—blessed with immense potential but burdened by persistent dysfunction. From the heart of cities to the edge of rural communities, a common question resonates: how did a country with so many resources come to be so misgoverned? And perhaps more importantly, what does the road ahead look like? “Corruption is not only about those in power; it’s deeply rooted in the behaviors of followers,” said Muhammadu Bubring Bugifo during a recent call-in interview. His words capture a growing national sentiment—that corruption in Nigeria is not just a top-down crisis, but a systemic cultural issue. Citizens interviewed across stat...

Muftwang Restores Dignity to Pilgrimage: Clearing Debts, Feeding, and Restoring Hope in Makkah

Image
In an exclusive interview with Global News, the Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Hon. Daiyabu Dauda, highlighted the remarkable transformation taking place under the leadership of Governor Caleb Manasseh Muftwang. According to him, Plateau State today tells a story of healing, inclusivity, and transformation. “At the heart of this rebirth is Governor Caleb Manasseh Muftwang, whose leadership has redefined governance by bridging divides and delivering tangible results. Truly, the time is now,” Dauda emphasized. When Muftwang emerged as Governor in 2023, many doubted his ability to govern a state historically divided along religious and ethnic lines. But two years on, Hon. Dauda said those doubts have melted away. “Governor Muftwang has carried both Christians and Muslims along, ensuring that policies and projects reach even the most neglected communities,” he explained. He pointed to Jos North, a predominantly Muslim area, w...

Independence and Renewal: Why Plateau Deserves Four More Years of Gov. Mutfwang

Image
By Labaran Ahmed Every Independence Day offers Nigeria a mirror. It asks citizens not only to wave the flag and sing the anthem but also to reflect honestly on how far we have come — and how far we must still travel. For Plateau, that mirror once reflected despair. Only two years ago, salaries went unpaid for months, hospitals were empty shells, schools were neglected, and communities were torn apart by conflict. The mood across the state was weary and uncertain, as if hope itself had fled the Plateau highlands. Today, the mirror shows something different. Teachers speak of salaries arriving on time. Farmers plant and harvest with hope. Students study with fewer burdens. Traders praise new roads that cut their journeys in half. Slowly but surely, the language of despair is being replaced by the vocabulary of renewal. At the center of this shift is one man: Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang. His leadership has combined empathy for ordinary people with a pragmatic vision that ...
