University of Jos and Plateau State Government Pay Tribute to Late Professor Punyit Janet Diket Plang

The University of Jos and Plateau State Government held a solemn valedictory session and service of songs to honor the life and legacy of Professor Punyit Janet Diket Plang, a trailblazing academic and devoted wife. Colleagues and friends paid tribute to her academic excellence, impactful leadership, and compassionate nature.


Professor Agunloye Irene remembered her as a "soul-friend" and sister, while Senator Diket Plang, her husband, described her as his strength. The Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, Prof. Tanko Ishaya, called her "irreplaceable" and noted that it may take decades to produce another professor of her caliber.


The service of songs at the Government House Chapel featured tributes from various quarters, including her family, academic colleagues, and the Association of Female Professors. The sermon challenged attendees to assess their walk with God, and the ceremony closed with intercessory prayers for the family.


Professor Punyit Janet Diket Plang leaves behind a lasting legacy in academia, mentorship, and community service. Her impact will be remembered for generations to come, and her memory will continue to inspire many.
