Worshippers at the Jos Central Mosque gathered on Friday for a spiritually uplifting sermon delivered by the Chief Imam, Sheikh Muhammad Gazali Adam, and translated by Ustaz Muhammad Bashir Lawan Adam. The sermon focused on the signs of true prosperity in Islam, emphasizing the importance of righteous living, good character, and sincere devotion to Allah.
In his sermon, the Chief Imam outlined seven key indicators of a prosperous believer, including steadfastness in worship, adherence to the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), maintaining honorable relationships, and being a source of benefit to others.
“When Allah intends good for a servant, He opens the doors of righteousness and protects him from sin,” the Imam stated, referencing Surah in Quran “Whoever follows My guidance will never go astray, nor will they be distressed.”
He urged Muslims to strive towards these qualities in their daily lives, noting that true success is not measured by material gain, but by a life lived in accordance with Islamic teachings.
Prayers for Chairman Hon. Barr. John Christopher's One Year in Office Immediately after the two Raka’at Jumu’ah prayers, the Chief Imam offered special prayers for the Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council, Barr. John Christopher, who just marked one year in office as elected Chairman.
The Imam praised the peaceful atmosphere currently enjoyed in Jos North and commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s administration for its efforts in maintaining harmony across communities.
On behalf of the Chairman, Vice Chairman Hon. Kabiru Sani Garkuwa led a delegation that included political appointees and stakeholders of the Jos North Local Government Council.
Speaking in an interview with Global News after the prayers, Hon. Kabiru Sani Garkuwa highlighted key achievements recorded in the past year under Chairman Barr. John Christopher leadership. These include:
Improved community development projects. Strengthened security collaboration. Increased youth engagement. Efforts to foster interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
He reiterated the Council’s commitment to good governance, transparency, and continued service to the people of Jos North.
The event served not only as a moment of spiritual reflection but also as a reminder of the essential link between faith and leadership in building a peaceful and prosperous society.
