Plateau Man of the Year Awards Unveils Dates for Historic 11th Edition as Plateau Marks 50 Years

The Plateau Man of the Year Awards (PMYA) has officially announced the dates for its 11th edition, setting the stage for what is widely anticipated to be the most historic celebration in the awards’ history, as Plateau State simultaneously marks 50 years since its creation on February 3, 1976.

According to organisers, activities for the 2026 awards season will commence on Thursday, February 5, 2026, and culminate in a grand finale on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the prestigious Usiju World Events Centre, Jos.

The 2026 edition carries deep symbolic significance, uniquely aligning PMYA @ 11 with Plateau State @ 50 — a convergence that transforms the ceremony from an annual awards event into a defining moment of reflection, recognition, and celebration of legacy, excellence, and state identity.

With the theme “The Convergence of Excellence – Building Legacies, Inspiring Generations,” the awards will honour exceptional individuals, women, and institutions whose leadership, innovation, and service have contributed to Plateau State’s development across governance, business, agriculture, media, philanthropy, youth leadership, and humanitarian service.

Over the past decade, PMYA has steadily evolved into Plateau State’s most respected and credible awards platform, distinguished by public nomination, transparent selection processes, and a firm commitment to integrity. Its reputation as a unifying institution has earned it growing recognition beyond the state.

Preparations for the ceremony are already in top gear, with organising committees working intensively to deliver what insiders describe as an edition worthy of both Plateau’s golden jubilee and PMYA’s 11-year legacy. The Plateau State government, through the Ministry of Water Resources and Energy and its agency PRUWASSA, in collaboration with TASTE-Nigeria, has flagged off the rehabilitation of 60 motorized boreholes and 300 hand pumps boreholes.
