The Chairman of Ja’ma’atu, Jos South Chapter, and Leader of the Bukuru Community, Alhaji Nasiru Muhammad, "Sarkin Bukuru", on Friday joined Muslim faithful in Bukuru to observe the Eid al-Fitr prayers, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The prayers, held at the Bukuru Eid Ground in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, drew a large congregation of worshippers from within and neighbouring communities, reflecting the significance of the occasion in the Islamic calendar.
Sarkin Bukuru arrived at the prayer ground alongside members of his cabinet, including the Wazirin Bukuru, Alhaji Yakubu “Little,” the Sarkin Samari, DK Garba, and other prominent community stakeholders. Together, they joined the faithful in a solemn act of worship that underscored unity, devotion, and gratitude.
In a sermon delivered before the commencement of prayers, Islamic cleric Ambassador Malan Bashir Umar urged Muslims to uphold the values of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect. He emphasized that the lessons of Ramadan—patience, sacrifice, self-discipline, and compassion—should remain a guiding principle in the lives of believers beyond the fasting period. He further called on the faithful to support the less privileged and contribute to building a harmonious society.
The Chief Imam of the Bukuru Central Mosque, Imam Adam Ibrahim, thereafter led the congregation in the two units (rak’ahs) of the Eid prayer. The exercise was conducted in an atmosphere of orderliness and reverence.
Following the prayers, the Eid Ground transformed into a scene of celebration, as families, friends, and well-wishers exchanged greetings and shared in the joy of the moment. Laughter, warm embraces, and photographs captured the spirit of togetherness that defines the festival.
Speaking shortly after the prayers, Sarkin Bukuru extended Sallah greetings to Muslims in Bukuru, Jos South, and beyond, wishing them a peaceful and fulfilling celebration. He also called for sustained unity among residents, urging them to continue to live in peace and work collectively for the progress of the community.
The Eid celebration in Bukuru concluded on a festive note, reinforcing the enduring values of faith, unity, and communal harmony.
