Pankshin College of Health Technology Seeks Government Support for Femal Hostel, Library, NBTE Accreditation

The Plateau State College of Health Technology, Pankshin, has identified the construction of a female hostel, a modern library and funding for accreditation by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) as key priorities in its proposed 2026/2027 budget.

The Provost of the College, Mr. Mahanan Emmanuel Josiah, disclosed this in an exclusive interview with journalists on Thursday, September 24, 2026, shortly after appearing before the committee conducting the 2026/2027 budget defence for Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Plateau State Government at the J.D. Gomwalk Secretariat, Jos.

Josiah, who was accompanied by members of his management team, said the budget defence provided the institution with an opportunity to present its revenue projections and receive guidance from the committee on strengthening its internally generated revenue.

Describing the exercise as “very fantastic,” the Provost commended members of the budget committee for their observations and recommendations, saying the guidance would assist the College in improving its financial planning and implementing its proposed programmes.

Speaking on the institution’s priorities, Josiah said the proposed construction of a female hostel was considered important to provide safer and more conducive accommodation for female students, while noting that the College also has a need for additional accommodation facilities for male students.

He also identified the construction of a modern library as another priority, explaining that the facility would improve access to educational resources and provide a more conducive environment for teaching, learning and research.

The Provost further appealed to the Plateau State Government to provide the necessary funding and support for the College’s NBTE accreditation processes, describing accreditation as essential to strengthening the institution’s academic programmes and maintaining the required standards.

According to him, the three priorities form part of several needs of the institution, but were considered particularly important because of their direct impact on students, academic development and the sustainability of the College’s programmes.

Josiah expressed optimism that the Plateau State Government under the administration of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang would give due consideration to the institution’s proposals in the interest of students and the development of health and technical education in the state.

He reaffirmed the College’s commitment to working with the state government and relevant authorities to improve its infrastructure, strengthen its revenue base and enhance its academic standards.

The Provost also assured the government that resources allocated to the institution would be judiciously utilised to improve facilities and advance the College’s mandate of training competent manpower for the health sector.

He said continued investment in the College would not only benefit its students but also contribute to the development of qualified health personnel and strengthen the overall health workforce of Plateau State.
