PLASCHEMA DG Kwande Solomon Honored As Youth advocacy Vanguard Assesses Mutfwang Appointees

The Director-General of the Plateau State Contributory Health Care Management Agency (PLASCHEMA), Dr. Kwande Solomon Dawal, has been honoured for his service as a youth appointee in the administration of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.

Dawal was among young government appointees recognised by the Plateau Youth Advocacy Vanguard during its programme, “Assessing Youth Appointees in Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s Administration,” held at Odilins Event Centre, Jos.

The programme brought together youth appointees, stakeholders and members of the public to examine the contributions of young people serving in different capacities within the state government, while encouraging them to sustain professionalism, accountability and performance in public service.

Chairman of the Plateau Youth Advocacy Vanguard, Hon. Winston Gomi, said the initiative was designed to encourage young appointees to work harder, recognise their contributions and motivate them to do more in their respective offices.

According to Gomi, the recognitions were not intended to be merely ceremonial, stressing that the beneficiaries were considered on the basis of their activities and contributions in their various offices.

He said the awards should be seen as an encouragement and a call to greater responsibility, urging the recipients to build on their achievements and remain committed to serving the people of Plateau State.

For Dawal, the recognition came with an even greater responsibility, particularly given the mandate of PLASCHEMA to expand access to health insurance and contribute to the attainment of universal health coverage in Plateau State.

Speaking after receiving the award, Dawal described the recognition as “very exciting,” saying it demonstrated that the work being carried out by government officials within their respective areas of responsibility was being noticed.

“It places us on a very high pedestal to begin to think of how to do better in terms of what we are doing at the Agency,” Dawal said.

He explained that the recognition would further encourage the management and staff of PLASCHEMA to intensify efforts to deepen health insurance coverage, particularly among residents in underserved and hard-to-reach communities.

According to him, expanding health insurance is important because it can reduce the financial burden associated with accessing healthcare, especially when individuals and families are confronted with medical needs at vulnerable moments.

The agency's emphasis on wider health insurance coverage aligns with the broader push in Plateau State towards universal health coverage, with the state government and health-sector stakeholders identifying access, health financing and coverage of underserved communities as important priorities.

Dawal also acknowledged the support he said PLASCHEMA had continued to receive from the Plateau State Government, describing Governor Mutfwang as a “very visionary Governor” and saying the support had enabled the agency to pursue its responsibilities.

He stressed that the award would not make him and his team complacent but would instead serve as an additional motivation to improve their performance.

“We have no reason not to perform. We can only do better than what we are doing at the moment,” he said.

The PLASCHEMA DG said the ultimate objective remained ensuring that more residents of Plateau, including those living in remote communities, could access healthcare without financial barriers.

The recognition of Dawal formed part of the broader Youth Advocacy Vanguard initiative aimed at examining the contributions of young people serving in the Mutfwang administration and encouraging them to regard public appointments not simply as positions, but as responsibilities requiring measurable performance and continued service to the people.

For Dawal and his team at PLASCHEMA, the award has therefore become both a recognition of work already done and a renewed call to expand the reach of health insurance across Plateau State.

Late Gyang Davou Family Drags Gindiri Brothers, Stone Company to Court Over Father’s Inheritance — Allege Criminal Trespass and Mischief
