The Renewed Hope Project has inaugurated its coordinators and members drawn from the 17 local government areas of Plateau State, strengthening its grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections and setting a target of securing at least 1.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election.

The inauguration ceremony, held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Crest Hotel, Jos, attracted participants and representatives from different parts of the state, reflecting the group’s determination to expand its political network across local government areas, wards and polling units.

Addressing participants at the event, the North-Central Zonal Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Project, Hon. Rotshak Gobapji Gofween, popularly known as RGG, described the inauguration as a significant step towards strengthening the group’s organisational structure and taking its message to the grassroots.

He said the newly inaugurated coordinators would be responsible for extending the movement’s activities to their respective local governments, wards and polling units, with a focus on mobilising support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

Gofween expressed confidence that the group’s growing participation and grassroots presence could help deliver at least 1.5 million votes for the President in Plateau State.

He said the movement would take its message to communities, markets, churches, mosques and households, particularly reaching out to ordinary citizens and disadvantaged groups to explain why it believes the President deserves another term.

“We are ready and ever ready to take this gospel of Renewed Hope down to the less privileged, down to the grassroots, for people down there to know and understand the reason behind supporting the re-election of Mr President,” he said.

The zonal coordinator urged the newly inaugurated members to demonstrate patience, integrity, discipline and commitment in carrying out their responsibilities.

He emphasised that effective political mobilisation required coordination and cooperation between the zonal, state and grassroots leadership structures.

According to him, members must work in line with directives from their state coordinators while maintaining communication and cooperation with the zonal leadership to ensure the movement operates as a coordinated organisation.

Gofween also appealed to government representatives to convey the group’s concerns to the relevant authorities, particularly regarding the recognition of political support groups after elections.

He observed that some support groups invest considerable time and resources in mobilising voters for political parties and governments but often struggle to gain access to government officials after elections.

He therefore urged the government to maintain stronger relationships with such groups and consider qualified members for appointments, including commissioner, board and advisory positions.

The coordinator also proposed that the movement compile a list of members seeking employment opportunities for consideration through appropriate state and federal government channels.

In addition, he called for the group to be considered in relevant government programmes and development initiatives, arguing that sustained engagement with political support organisations would strengthen their commitment to the administration.

In an interview after the inauguration, Gofween said the Renewed Hope Project had already undertaken similar activities in other states within the North-Central zone under his supervision.

He explained that the Plateau inauguration was intended to establish a structure capable of reaching voters at the community level and sustaining engagement ahead of the elections.

He also linked the movement’s campaign to the need for peace and security in Plateau State, saying the group would encourage residents to support peaceful coexistence alongside its political mobilisation.

Gofween maintained that the movement’s membership included Christians, Muslims and Fulani participants, describing the diversity as an opportunity to promote dialogue, unity and peaceful relations among communities.

He further cited the Federal Government’s student loan initiative under the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as one of the programmes the group intended to highlight during its engagement with voters.

According to him, some students who had struggled to pay their final-year tuition fees were able to apply for student loans, which he said helped them continue their studies.

He urged voters to assess the administration’s policies and programmes as they consider their choices in the 2027 elections.

His claims about improvements in security and the impact of government programmes represent the group’s assessment of the administration.

Also speaking in an interview, Hon. Patrick Igoche Ogwuche, identified as Director of Stakeholder Engagement for the Renewed Hope Project in the North-Central zone, outlined the movement’s strategy for building a broad political network across Plateau State.

He said the group’s structure would operate from polling units to wards, districts, villages and communities, with members expected to engage voters directly.

Ogwuche explained that the strategy was designed to strengthen existing political relationships, recruit additional supporters and prepare members for effective grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections.

He also expressed the ambition of securing victories for APC candidates across the ballot, from councillorship positions to the presidency, describing Plateau State as strategically important to the party.

He cited the removal of the petrol subsidy, increased revenue allocations to state and local governments, salary payments and NELFUND as some of the Federal Government’s policies and initiatives the movement intends to communicate to the electorate.

The stakeholder engagement director said the group would continue recruiting and training grassroots mobilisers to strengthen its organisational capacity ahead of 2027.

The inauguration marks a step in the Renewed Hope Project’s efforts to establish a coordinated political structure across Plateau State and align its activities with the APC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.

With representatives drawn from all 17 local government areas, the movement intends to deepen its engagement with communities and expand its reach through direct contact with voters.

The event also brought attention to the relationship between political support groups and government, with Gofween urging authorities to recognise the contributions of grassroots mobilisers through sustained engagement and consideration for qualified members in appointments and opportunities.
