Sen. Victor Lar Flags Off Voters’ Registration Drive in Southern Plateau to Revive APC’s Fortunes, Declares Support for Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election

Disturbed by the poor outing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 general elections in Plateau South and determined to reposition the party for victory in 2027, Senator Victor Rampyal Lar has launched a grassroots advocacy tour across the six local government areas of the zone. The former lawmaker, who also declared his unflinching support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, charged party executives, youth leaders, and stakeholders to take voters’ registration seriously, describing the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) as the “weapon of victory” for APC in the coming elections.
The advocacy tour, which kicked off in Mikang LGA on September 10, 2025, saw Senator Lar engaging party executives, former chairmen, and grassroots leaders in a series of interactive meetings. He encouraged members to adopt the slogan, “One official, one new voter per week,” stressing that consistent mobilization was the surest way to rebuild APC’s strength.
At each stop, Lar emphasized that electoral victory in 2027 would depend less on money politics and more on the ability of tested leaders to inspire confidence and deliver results. He urged members to align with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said represented the pathway to growth and development for Plateau and Nigeria at large.
Beyond party mobilization, the tour carried a humanitarian touch. In Qua’an-Pan LGA, Senator Lar visited an IDP camp in Teng community, donating ₦500,000 to victims of recent attacks. His gesture, which drew praise from the Long Doemak, Miskagam Cosmos Ndelong Dakiap, was described as typical of Lar’s responsiveness to the plight of his people.
From Mikang to Qua’an-Pan, Wase, Shendam, Langtang North and Langtang South, the message was the same: strengthen the base, register voters, and prepare APC for 2027. At each location, stakeholders hailed Lar’s initiative as the first of its kind since the 2023 elections. Women leaders, youth leaders, and ward chairmen commended him for reconnecting with the grassroots and pledged unwavering support for his senatorial ambition.
In Shendam, the headquarters of Plateau South, the Piapung Youth Development Association formally endorsed Senator Lar’s candidacy, while party stalwarts like Musa Aboki and Nandril Yakubu praised his inclusive style of politics. Similar endorsements trailed his visits in Langtang North, where ward chairmen described him as “a pillar of hope” and credited him with reviving party structures since his return to the APC in February 2025.
Lar consistently reminded supporters that the voter’s card remains “a weapon of war and a weapon of victory,” warning that poor registration would weaken the party’s bargaining power and could even lead to the loss of polling units. He charged executives to go beyond meetings and lead by example in mobilizing their communities.
The tour, which drew large turnouts in every LGA visited, reaffirmed Lar’s acceptance and influence at the grassroots. In Wase, youth leaders recalled his achievements as Senator from 2011 to 2015, expressing confidence that he would deliver even more if elected again in 2027. In Langtang South, LGA Chairman Nandul Ramnap summed up the mood, noting that “the voter’s card is a powerful weapon that translates support into victory, culminating in the provision of democratic dividends to the people.”
As the advocacy drive progresses, Senator Lar appears to be positioning himself not just as a mobilizer for APC but also as a bridge-builder reconnecting the party with its roots. His dual message of loyalty to President Tinubu’s re-election and commitment to Plateau South’s development has resonated with stakeholders, leaving little doubt that the 2027 contest will be fought with voter registration and grassroots engagement at its core.
