TCNN Forges Ahead: New Courses and Programs Under Reverend Professor James Jamira Reynolds' Leadership
By: Labaran Ahmed
Theological College of Northern Nigeria (TCNN) is poised to embark on a new era of academic excellence and innovation, thanks to the visionary leadership of Reverend Professor James Jamira Reynolds. As the esteemed Provost of TCNN, Reverend Professor Reynolds is spearheading the introduction of new courses and programs. The Provost shared his vision in an interview with Global News, saying:
"We're introducing Public Theology, and the college invites you to enroll. This course is tailored for individuals who don't intend to pursue full-time ministry. Professionals from the public and private sectors can come and study theology, applying it to their various fields. We have judges, lawyers, bankers, accountants, engineers, and politicians. We organize seminars and symposiums annually, focusing on politics. Our last event, 'Politics of Righteousness,' brought together participants from both major religions. We plan to offer professional courses for chief executives, addressing different areas, and we're establishing centers for environmental management studies, conflict resolution and management, and counseling to support victims of insurgency and crisis."
In the heart of Northern Nigeria, TCNN shines bright as a beacon of academic excellence and spiritual growth, thanks to Reverend Professor Reynolds' leadership. With over two decades of service to TCNN, he has worn many hats, including Master in Theology Program, Chaplain, Lecturer, Acting Estate Officer, Examination Officer, Faculty Representative to the Governing Council, Deputy Provost, and Dean of Postgraduate Studies.
We observed that, Reverend Professor Reynolds' vision for TCNN is built on five pillars:
1. Unity and Representation: Fostering harmony and stability through equal representation among denominations.
2. Open-Door Policy: Encouraging feedback and input from all stakeholders.
3. Teamwork: Empowering individuals to take ownership and grow.
4. Academic Programs: Offering a range of programs from diploma to doctoral levels.
5. Staff Appreciation: Recognizing the value of staff and promoting a positive work environment.
The provost emphasizes empowering staff, maintaining theological relevance, and balancing faith with hard work and ethical conduct. He believes in giving people opportunities to grow and make decisions, rather than micromanaging.
Reverend Professor Reynolds' message to staff and students is one of purpose, integrity, and dedication to TCNN's mission. He encourages them to see their work and studies as a calling from God, highlighting the college's sixty-year history and commitment to quality, Christ-centered education.
His leadership embodies the values of faith, service, and community, inspiring a new generation of leaders to make a positive impact in the world.
