PMYA @12: Public Voting Opens as Organisers Set November 14 Deadline
By: Labaran Ahmed
The Plateau Man of the Year Awards (PMYA) has officially opened public voting for its 12th edition, inviting residents of Plateau State and members of the public to participate in the selection process by voting for nominees whose leadership, achievements, service and contributions have made significant impacts across the state.
The organisers announced that voting for PMYA @12 – THE STANDARD commenced on November 5 and will close on November 14, 2026, following the successful conclusion of nominations and the unveiling of nominees across various award categories.
The voting exercise provides an opportunity for members of the public to recognise and support individuals and organisations whose activities and contributions have positively influenced communities, strengthened institutions and promoted development in Plateau State.
According to the organisers, public participation remains an important component of the PMYA recognition process, allowing residents to express their preferences and demonstrate support for nominees they consider deserving of recognition.
However, the organisers clarified that public votes would not be the sole determinant of the final award recipients, stressing that popularity alone would not guarantee victory.
They explained that the final selection process would remain subject to independent judging and final adjudication to ensure that merit, outstanding performance and measurable contributions are given appropriate consideration.
The organisers have therefore encouraged members of the public to participate actively in the exercise, particularly by supporting nominees whose records of service, leadership and achievements reflect the values the awards seek to promote.
They also advised interested voters to consult the voting guidelines and participation details provided through the organisers' official communication platforms to ensure proper participation.
The 12th edition, themed "Leadership Beyond Politics: Building a Legacy for Future Generations," seeks to recognise individuals and institutions whose contributions transcend political affiliations and demonstrate a commitment to leadership, service and sustainable development.
As the countdown to the November 14 deadline begins, the organisers are urging Plateau residents to make their voices count by supporting credible achievements and recognising those making meaningful contributions to society.
The PMYA @12 initiative also provides opportunities for interested individuals and organisations to participate through nominations, sponsorship, exhibitions and other forms of engagement.
