Plateau LG Polls: APC Will Win All Positions - Bature

The Plateau State Chairman of the All Progress Congress, APC Hon. Rufus Bature, assured that the party would emerge victorious in all positions in the upcoming local government elections slated for October 9, 2024.

Hon. Rufus Bature, made this known during a critical stakeholders meeting on Monday held at the party secretariat, Kalwa House Jos, Plateau State.


He said the party has worked hard to ensure total victory for all its candidates at the polls, that the APC State working committee had been monitoring the activities of the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) since the announcement of the LG polls. 

“So far so good, since the assigned Officers have not given us any cause to be afraid, we are sure of sweeping the polls. Preparatory to the elections, a well thought out itinerary was rolled out which included among other things; the sale of forms, screening of aspirants and the primary elections which afterwards, were adjudged as one of the most credible, peaceful, transparent as well as free and fair primary.

“As you are aware, October 9, has been slated for the local government elections and as a party and all things being equal, we intend to not only participate in the contest but to clear the polls convincingly, based on our level of preparedness and the anticipated support from all of you, most especially the critical stakeholders”, he believed.

Bature, however, thanked APC members in the House of Assembly for outrightly rejecting the provisions that attempted to introduce in the new law that all election results should be announced in Jos, the PLASEIC headquarters.

He challenged party faithfuls to take it as a must do and come together, putting aside all differences and selfish interests and put the interest of the Party first by taking over the affairs of the State which should be their cardinal target and goal.

“Appeals panels were set up to hear petitions arising from the conduct of the primary elections, and all went well”; Bature noted.

By: Labaran Ahmed The Chief Magistrate Court, Grade 1 Area Court sitting in Nasarawa Gwang, Jos.  The hearing of the case filed against Mrs. Dorothy Bassi, for alleged criminal misappropriation, criminal breach of trust, cheating, cheating by impersonation, defamation, mischief and criminal intimidation has been fixed for 11th December, 2023. The court fixed the date for witnesses to be called on the matter against the accused person after assuming jurisdiction to hear the case. Earlier, the Counsel to Mrs. Dorothy Bassi, had filed a Preliminary Objection (PO) challenging the jurisdiction of the court to hear the matter citing the non-signing of the Particulars to the complaint by the complainant. Gov. Mutfwang Extends Teachers Retirement Age

Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has graciously approved the extension of retirement age for teachers and School Administrators. The State Governor made this known through his Commissioner for secondary education, Hon. Muhammad S. Nyalun, on Thursday 5th Oct. during the celebration of world teacher's day, held at Rwang Pam Township Stadium, Jos. Com. S. Nyalun said, " His Excellency has graciously approved the extension of the retirement age for teachers and School administrators from the age of 60 to 65 years and 35 to 40 years respectively with effect from the 1st October 2023". According to him, "the rational behind the extension is for the experienced hands to go back to the classroom to teach and mentor the younger ones even after service in various administrative position".
