Govt Unveils Jos Family Christmas Festival to Make Plateau as Premier Christmas Holiday Destination

Plateau Government through the State Tourism Corporation has unveiled plans to make the State as Premier Christmas Holiday Destination for Jos Family Christmas Festival, a month-long celebration aimed to promote Plateau as a Home of Peace and Tourism.
Unveiled the pre-contention of the Jos Family Christmas Festival yesterday at the Usuji World Events Center Jos, the General Manager, Plateau State Tourism Cooperation, Hon. Chuwang Pwajok, announced to Critical Stakeholders in Tourism and Hospitality Sector that Plateau State government is ready to compete and present itself as Premier Christmas Holiday Destination in Nigeria.
The GM. hinted that, the event will be a significant moments and communal celebration, that before, Christmas Festival provide an opportunity for people to engage with one another, and build a sense of oneness, according to him, the Jos Family Christmas Festival would serve as communal celebration fostering a sense of unity and share joy, added that, the State will celebrate it in it's own way on the Plateau of trying to build a legacy and foundation to represent the true meaning of Christmas celebration.
"We are trying to bring what we know is unique considering Plateau's comparative advantage over other states in terms of tourism, the rocks formation and wonderful clement weather condition, we are going to build a Christmas Activities that will help our people and State to experience a blessings God has given Plateau".
The GM. Hon. Chuwang Pwajok, called on individuals, private sectors and creative community to gain advantage at the long run because government are not going to take it as it's responsibility, according to him, what the Plateau State Government deliberately doing now is to make sure, the citizens of Plateau take the ownership of the Festival.
He assured that the event is carefully engineering to showcase the varieties of Christmas Activities to the citizens and friends of Plateau, and indeed others that would visit, the ideas is to build the month of December into Holiday Month, so that, love ones and associations will find place to come and spend their special holiday.
Nigerian rapper and Special Adviser on Entertainment and Creativity, M.I. Abaga, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, describing it as a key step in promoting Plateau’s artistic and cultural significance. “This is an opportunity for global recognition of our arts, culture, and people,” he stated, emphasizing that such partnerships could lead to significant growth and development within the community.
Hon. Musa Ashoms, Plateau’s Commissioner for Information and Communication, encouraged Nigerians to consider Plateau as their holiday destination. “Our climate is perfect, our people are welcoming, and our landscape is breathtaking,” he said. “This year, the Christmas season will feature bike rides, hiking, cultural displays, and traditional Christmas carols, among other activities. The state is fully prepared with enhanced security measures to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.”
Echoing this sentiment, Sir Rume Ogane, CEO of Eco Systems Africa and a key festival partner, introduced a new campaign, “My Jos Is Safe.” He urged the public and media to promote the true narrative of safety and vibrancy in Jos, reinforcing the city’s appeal for tourism and investment.
With enhanced security, diverse entertainment, and a commitment to economic growth, the Jos Family Christmas Festival is set to make Plateau State a festive hub for visitors from around the world.
