Hon. Pwajok Chuwang, GM, Tourism Corporation Comment Gov. Mutfwang's Efforts For Boosting Tourism Sector

Hon. Pwajok Chuwang, General Manager of Plateau State Tourism Corporation, has praised Governor Caleb Mutfwang's efforts for boosting tourism sector. Says the moves aims to tap into the vast wealth that tourism can generate for the State, reducing its reliance on federal allocations.
In an exclusive interview in his office with Global News, the General Manager of Plateau State Tourism Corporation, Hon. Pwajok Chuwang Nyam, shared his insights on the state's tourism potential.
Emphasized that Plateau State is indeed blessed with an abundance of natural resources, making it an ideal destination for tourists, that the government's efforts to develop the tourism sector are indeed commendable, especially with the coming on board of his Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.
Hon. Chuwang highlighted the State's natural attractions, agricultural produce, beautiful landscape, weather, hospitable people with rich culture, making Plateau an ideal destination for for tourists.
Stated that, the Governor's clear directives have set the tone for a proactive approach in developing Plateau State tourism sector, according to him, they've made significant progress in engaging with private sectors interested in investing in Plateau State. Adding that this involved a series of engagements, negotiations, and interactions with multiple private sector stakeholders.
He further said, these efforts aim to attract investments and boost the state's tourism industry, ultimately contributing to its economic growth and development by leveraging private sector expertise and resources.
The GM explained further that the State is opening itself up to new opportunities for growth and development, some of the key initiatives include the redevelopment of the Hill Station Hotel, the rebuilding of Plateau Hotel, and the transformation of the Solomon Lar Amusement Park into a fully-fledged amusement park.
Maintaining that, Governor Mutfwang's efforts to turn around the State tourism sector are indeed deliberate and strategic. These projects aim to boost the state's tourism infrastructure and attract more visitors to come and enjoy in our location.
"The Plateau State Government has been working tirelessly to develop its tourism potential, recognizing the sector's ability to generate revenue and create employment opportunities", he added.
"The Plateau State is indeed making significant progress in developing it's tourism sector, the recent executive meeting, led by Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, focused on strategies to boost tourism development, including collaborations with developmental partners to create new tourist attractions.
"Plateau State is richly blessed with natural and cultural attractions, we are equally begins to put on board different tourist products that will help to position the State properly to generate revenue from tourism sector.
"Beyond developing infrastructure, we are planning to create activities and experiences that will attract visitors and encourage them to stay longer by offering a range of activities and experiences.
"As a tourism corporation, this year! we are going to create a vibrant tourism ecosystem that attracts visitors, generates revenue, and showcases the state's unique charm.
"December last year 2024 was indeed declared Tourism Month by the Governor of Plateau State, and it was a month-long celebration that showcased the state's rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.
"The event attracted a large number of visitors and featured various activities that highlighted the state's tourism potential.
"The Unity Carro Festival, held at the 10th Commandments, was a great way to kick off the month-long celebration, promoting unity and cultural exchange among the people of Plateau State.
"It's also wonderful to hear that private individuals and organizations participated in the celebration by hosting their own events and activities at various locations across the state.
"This kind of community involvement and engagement is crucial for the success of tourism initiatives and helps to create a sense of ownership and pride among locals.
"The Plateau State Tourism Cooperation hosted the 7-day Jos Christmas Festival at the Landfield and Event Center was a huge success, culminating in a spectacular crossover fireworks display at the Secretariat flyover.
"These events marked a significant milestone in the administration's efforts to revitalize the tourism sector, led by Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.
"The state's commitment to tourism development is evident in its various initiatives, including the redevelopment of the Hill Station Resort, a historic hotel that will be transformed into a world-class hospitality hub. This project aims to reposition Jos as a premier global tourism destination, stimulating economic growth and creating sustainable employment opportunities.
"With various initiatives and programs aimed at developing the tourism sector, the Plateau State Tourism Corporation are working on plans to introduce new tourist attractions and products this year, which will help position Plateau State as a premier tourist destination".
