Mazadu Emerges Best Newspaper Publisher on the Plateau Again!

Friends and colleagues in the journalism profession in Plateau State came together to celebrate one of their own Mr. Shabul Mazadu for emerging as the outstanding Newspaper Publisher in the State. The event took place at the Prestigious Plateau Man of the Year Awards which is annually organised to recognise personalities, businesses and corporate institutions that have meaningfully impacted the state with excellent services and products in the previous year.
The 2025 Awards ceremony which recognised performers for the year 2024 is the 10th edition. It is annually organised by COA media Consult and endorsed by African Union with the objective of rewarding impact, innovation and development in Plateau State.
Mazadu emerged the best in the newspaper category for seven years consecutively. He has equally emerged the best in same category in awards organised by other organisers such as First Samaritan Love Foundation and numerous others in the State.
Awardees in each category are decided through aggregating number of nominations and votes conducted in- person and online. Voters are urged to provide justification for their nominations and votes, after which nominees with the highest votes in each category are communicated by the organisers about their emergence then invited to attend a ceremony where they are handed their awards in pomp and pageantry.
In the just concluded 2025 edition which held at the Crispan Hotel in Jos, the Plateau State Capital, there were about 59 recipients who emerged in different areas that include politics and governance; hospitality and philanthropy, agriculture, security and social welfare. Others are innovation, peace- building, education and journalism etc.
At the event were other recipients such as the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Gabriel Dewan who emerged as the Most Outstanding Legislator in the state, others were the Honourable Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Chief Ephraim Usman and Senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial Zone in the Senate, Diket Plang recognised as the Senator of the Year.
Other awardees were Jay FM which emerged as the Best Radio Station of the Year; Arch. Hart Bankat the General Manager of Jos Metropolitan Development Board emerged as outstanding leader in public service and Mr. Nanven Nimfel, a retired Director in the Federal Civil Service was awarded as Custodian of Impact and Excellence in the State.
Also on the list of outstanding personalities is Mrs. Lois Andrew, the Chief Executive Officer of Dee Utensils in Abuja for being the Philanthropist of the Year and Toyin Wiggins, the Executive Director of Toyin Wiggins Centre for Leadership and Mentoring Initiative for outstanding leadership and mentorship.
The recitation for Mazadu, who has constantly emerged in his category read thus “In recognition of your outstanding contribution to journalism and media through The Beacon Newspaper. Your commitment to excellence, integrity and insightful reporting has established your publication as a trusted news source”. And concluded that “Through impactful story telling and public discourse, you have fostered community development and civic engagement, shaping Plateau State’s media landscape”.
On this note, the organisers congratulated him and spurred him to do more for the state.
At the event were the Rt Hon. Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly who congratulated Mr Mazadu for his sterling works in journalism and expressed the state’s elation with his contributions.
