Plateau State Polytechnic Barkin Ladi Marks Significant Milestone

Plateau State Polytechnic Barkin Ladi marked a significant milestone with the commissioning of its new administrative block, renovation of Joshua Dariye Hall at the Jos Campus, and other infrastructure projects, showcasing Governor Caleb Muftwang's commitment to improving education in the state. 


The ceremony, held to commemorate the 2025 Democracy Day and the governor's two years in office, highlights the government's dedication to developing educational infrastructure and promoting academic excellence. 


Notable projects at the main campus include renovations of the School of Environmental Studies, equipped staff offices, and steady power supply.


Acting Rector Dr. Clement Chirman expressed profound gratitude to Governor Muftwang for his unwavering support, highlighting the governor's pivotal role in transforming the institution into a beacon of academic excellence. Dr. Chirman emphasized the importance of maintaining the infrastructure for future generations and reaffirmed the polytechnic's commitment to achieving academic excellence.


Prof. Hayward Mafuyai, Chairman of the Governing Council, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the governor and his administration for their unrelenting support and investment in the institution. He outlined a grand plan to elevate the polytechnic to a world-class institution, leveraging its rich history, and pledged the polytechnic community's support to the administration.


The Commissioner for Education, Hon. Dr. Kachollom PYAM Gang, extended a warm welcome to Governor Muftwang and his team, commending the governor's commitment to education and vision for the institution's growth. She assured students that certificate issues were being addressed and invited the governor to return and commission more projects.


During the event, Governor Muftwang unveiled the Plateau State Polytechnic magazine, commending the efforts of those who worked on the publication. He shared plans to upgrade the institution into a University of Science and Technology and assured staff that those with valid employment statuses would retain their jobs amid broader reforms to enhance academic standards.


Earlier, Governor Muftwang commissioned other critical projects: unveiled 15 brand-new Tin City Metro Buses under the revitalized Plateau Express Service, designed to ease intra-city transportation. The governor also commissioned a high-tech diagnostic laboratory, a pediatric ward, and a modern administrative block at the Plateau State Specialist Hospital, and the Utonkon Bridge and connecting roads at the Utonkon Abattoir Road.


Governor Mutfwang affirmed that the day was not just a celebration of democracy but a demonstration of tangible progress. "We are committed to delivering real impact in the lives of our people. This Democracy Day is a reminder that good governance can be seen, felt, and measured,".
